RULES FOR CLUB COMPETITIONS 2011/2012

FORMAT

Club Competitions are open to all full members of Wealden I.B.C.

           
Singles 21 Shots
Pairs 21 Ends
Fours 21 Ends
Triples 18 Ends
Drawn Triples 18 Ends
Singles Plate* Best of 3 sets of 7 Ends
Backbone **(2 wood drawn pairs) 100 shots (1st Bowl 4pts, 2nd 3 pts, etc)

            Mixed Triples  18 Ends - played  Monday evenings in two groups, the top four teams in each group playing a knockout.  First in group A plays fourth in group B, second in group A plays third in group B etc. 

*Singles plate is for 1st game losers in both Men and Ladies Singles Competition.  Players giving or receiving a walk over do not qualify.

**Two trial ends are allowed except for the Backbone.

In the event of a tie, except in Monday Mixed Triples group games, an extra end will be played.  In all competitions including the Backbone, the player holding shot wins the game.

DATES AND TIMES

Draw sheets will be posted on the Competitions Notice Board.

For Singles Competitions the first named is the challenger who shall be responsible for providing a marker. 
All rounds will be played on fixed dates, (subject to Rule 3) with the exception of the Plate Competition.  For the Plate Competition the challenger shall offer the opponent a choice of two dates, at least one date to be at a weekend.

At Weekends, morning games commence at 9.45, evening games commence at 18.30.

If all players are ready to play earlier they may do so provided they mark the score card with the time the game started.

Rinks to be drawn at the time of the Competition.  If any player has already played on a rink earlier in that same day that rink shall be excluded from the draw.
        
When games are rearranged to a time when league games are being played the draw shall be made from any rinks that are not allocated to the league. There is a time limit of 2 hours for the Backbone and the Plate and 4 hours including trial ends for all other competitions.

RE-ARRANGEMENTS

In any competition, a game may be re-arranged to any day before the original date subject to mutual agreement of both teams and rink availability.  (Saturday games may be rearranged to the Sunday of the same weekend).

Monday Mixed Triples games may be rearranged to any other day to suit both teams up to 2 weeks beyond  the original date.    In the event of a Monday Mixed Triples game being conceded there will be a 5 shot difference penalty.  If a game remains unplayed no points will be awarded to either side.

Players who have been asked to represent the County or Club or players competing in a zone semi final or final of a National competition on the dates they are due to play club competitions, or players asked to surrender their rink to allow such a game to be played, will be allowed to re-arrange to a date after but within 14 days of the original date.

Please ensure that a yellow form, available from the Green Steward is completed to allow the booking sheets to be changed and the Competition Secretary to be informed.

SUBSTITUTES

For the Monday Night Triples the team will be that named on the entry form, for all other competitions the first team that plays will be the team regardless of the team named in an entry.

At least one member of the team must be named on the entry sheet.

Singles & Married Pairs                 No substitutes allowed
Men’s & Ladies Pairs & Triples       One and the same substitute of the respective sex allowed
Mixed Pairs                                  One and the same man & lady allowed but at no time together
Mixed Fours                                 One and the same man & lady substitute allowed and they may play at the same time
Monday Mixed Triples                  One and the same man & lady (or 2 ladies for an all ladies team) allowed and they may play at the same time.
Men’s & Ladies Fours                   One and the same substitute allowed
Backbone                                    One and the same substitute allowed
Drawn Triples                             One and the same substitute allowed

Substitutes may be named but must not have played for another team.

For the Backbone and the Drawn Triples substitutes will be provided by the Competition Secretary
Substitutes mayplay in any position.

SCORE CARDS

At the completion of each game, a member of each team should sign the scorecard.  The scorecard should then be placed in the “Completed Scorecards” box.  In the event of a walkover, the team giving the walkover must complete the card and the Green Steward must be advised to reallocate the rink.  

ADJUDICATION

EIBA/EWIBA rules will apply.            Rules ratified by the GMC on 9th March 2009.
